Garcinia cambogia is a small, pumpkin-shaped fruit native to Indonesia and also known as the Malabar tamarind. The skin of the fruit contains a large amount of a natural, biologically active substance called Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA). Garcinia Cambogia HCA is sometimes called HCA for short.

HCA has been shown in studies to affect appetite and weight control in two ways:
1. Reducing Cravings:
HCA has the ability to suppress the appetite in a way that is unlike stimulant-based diet pills that can leave you feeling jittery. It increases levels of the hormone serotonin which results in reduced appetite and fewer cravings. Low levels of serotonin have been linked to depression and anxiety, two factors that drive emotional eating. With higher levels of serotonin, your mood improves and you are less likely to engage in emotional eating.
2. Blocking Fat:
HCA blocks a key enzyme called Citrate Lyase that your body uses to turn sugars and starches into fat. By blocking this enzyme, the carbohydrates get diverted into energy production rather than fat production. Then, when you burn stored fat through regular exercise, the fat stores are diminished and you are able to reduce your overall body fat.
In order for HCA to be effective in weight loss, you have to take the right amount and you have to take it properly and consistently. A standardized HCA of 60% or higher is best. Take 550mg-1000mg with a glass of water before breakfast, lunch and dinner. Do not exceed more than 3000mg in a single day. It is also recommended that you use HCA along with regular exercise and a sensible diet, like SpaFit™ personalized Low Calorie Meal Plans. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this supplement. Additionally, if you have any medical condition, you are strongly encouraged to consult with your Medical Doctor before taking an HCA supplement or beginning any weight loss program.
